St. Petersburg, FL - With Wednesday's arrest of 70 people at Occupy San Francisco, there have now been over 5,000 arrests in 82 cities across the country since the Occupy movement began in New York on September 17, 2011.
OccupyArrests.com, a project of St. Pete for Peace, has been tracking these arrests and lists each chronologically, including number arrested, location, a brief description and links to source documentation.
The total number of arrests is conservatively derived, including only those instances in which at least two credible sources are found.
Some of the cities with the largest number of total arrests include New York (1,359), Tucson (455), Los Angeles (399), Chicago (305), San Francisco (189) and Oakland (188).
